We love our local, O’side community!

Oceanside is the perfect place to enjoy the gorgeous summer days of North County. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite local activities to help you make the most of your summer in Oceanside.

Eat Like a Local

It’s no secret: Oceanside is quickly becoming one of the top food and craft beer destinations in all of San Diego.

From the Asian-inspired, nontraditional ramen house Whet Noodle to the inspired sushi and seafood joint Wrench and Rodent Seabasstropub, Oceanside offers a range of farm-to-table dining options for even the most adventurous of palettes. Many of these restaurants are also in partnership, where one of the owners is actually the chef of the restaurant!

One of the best ways to dive into this amazing dining scene is through a guided tour. Carla and Linda’s Walking Food Tours take diners through popular eateries in coastal Oceanside. Tours center around 3 different destinations: North O’Side, Heart of O’Side, and South O and are available every Friday-Sunday throughout the summer. Don’t forget to bring your appetite!

Rock Out to Live Music

What’s better than live music on the beach?

Kick off your summer with a music festival, local artist performance, or movie night on the beach. Check out Oceanside Pier Amphitheater! This incredible venue offers an unforgettable experience for any music-lover.  

The Oceanside Pier Amphitheater has had everyone from The Black Keys to Walk the Moon and more acclaimed acts perform at their venue. Whichever event you choose to go to, it’ll always be a rockin’ time.

Stroll Sunset Market

Locals and tourists alike flock to the Oceanside Sunset Market. Known for its mouthwatering array of hot food choices, incredible local merchandise, and live entertainment, Sunset Market isn’t something you want to miss.

Thankfully, this local staple runs throughout the entire year, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to check out everything the market has to offer! The Oceanside Sunset Market takes place every Thursday from 5PM to 9PM on Tremont Street and Pier View Way.

Attend Oceanside’s Annual Independence Parade

Every year, Oceanside hosts an incredible Independence Parade to celebrate the Fourth of July. This year’s parade takes place on June 30th.  

Locals and visitors alike can enjoy fun floats, live bands, classic cars, and much more! Starting at 10:00AM, the parade makes its way up Coast Highway from Wisconsin Street all the way to Civic Center Drive and ends just past City Hall. Make sure to mark your calendars so you don’t miss out on this unforgettable parade.

Go On a Whale Watching Adventure

Take to the sea this summer!

Explore the stunning, coastal waters of Oceanside and see incredible marine life with one of a whale watching tour. Oceanside Adventures Luxury Cruises is a year-round whale watching company that offers passengers 2-hour excursions aboard a 50-foot, state-of-the-art catamaran.  

Sail the seas, explore the local waters, and see incredible marine life from whales to dolphins to seals and sea lions. What’s great is that each tour is accompanied by a certified naturalist so all passengers can learn a bit more about the local wildlife.

See Amazing Art

The Oceanside Museum of Art is a cultural staple of the city. This gallery consistently features exhibitions from notable artists, both from Oceanside and around the country. When you visit the Oceanside Museum of Art, you’ll be sure to find a range of artistic themes, from minimalism to abstract art, to incredible, eye-catching 3D works. Looking for the ultimate California experience this summer? Look no further than Oceanside’s own California Surf Museum! Witness the breathtaking art, culture, and history of the sport of surfing. There’s always a new, exciting exhibit going on at the Surf Museum, so make sure to visit their website to learn what exhibits are open now.

Downtown Oceanside also hosts the Oceanside Art Walk the first Friday of every month. From 5PM to 8PM you can enjoy tons of artwork from local artists and live entertainment in downtown Oceanside.
